The Royal Bank of Scotland, 162 Hyndland Road. Built in 1934 in cream sandstone with a black granite frontage and Egyptian inspired Deco ornament. |
- 1919
The Commercial Bank of Scotland decides to open a branch in Hyndland in the main door flat at 1 Clarence Drive, on the corner of Hyndland Road.
- 1921
Branch moves across the road to the main door flat at 152A Hyndland Road.
- 1934
Residence at 162 Hyndland Road purchased for demolition, and the new bank built on the site.
- 1959
After amalgamation became the 'National Commercial Bank of Scotland'.
- 1969
After further amalgamation became 'The Royal Bank of Scotland'.
- 1982
Autoteller machine installed.
- 1987
Given Category 'B' Listed Building status.
